The Round-Up

Germany’s Kevin Boakye-Schumann is a strong puncher who controlled all of his recent contests at the men’s middleweight (75kg) with excellent performance. He was not able to repeat his peak performance following his tough and emotional semi-final but he landed good punches in the final against Netherlands’ new teenage sensation, Gradus Kraus. The young Dutch has got strong family roots in boxing and he boxed over his previous level in Cologne. Kraus knocked down Boakye-Schumann in the final seconds but his efforts were not enough to turn back the exciting contest.

Netherlands’ Rio 2016 Olympic Games silver medallist Nouchka Fontijn is one of the biggest name in the Cologne Boxing World Cup who eliminated Germany’s Christina Hammer in the semi-finals of the women’s middleweight (75kg) and continued her winning path in the title bout. The European Games winner Dutch boxer used long distance strategy in the final against France’s Davina Michel and she succeeded in Cologne once again.
