Vandaag (8 juni 2020) maakte de EUBC de winnaars van de European #ShadowboxingChallenge bekend. Daarbij zijn ook twee Nederlandse boksers in de prijzen gevallen. Luna Beeloo wint de bronzen medaille in de categorie ¨Junior & Youth (15-18)¨. De zilveren medaille in dezelfde klasse gaat naar het Eindhovens talent Sven Cuppen, wie ook bij het NK schaduwboksen in de prijzen viel. ¨The European Shadowboxing Challenge was launched on May 11 and finished in the last day of the month which new project inspired the whole continent. Russia and Hungary both won two categories in the European Shadowboxing Challenge while Ireland also earned one title in the successful project following the decision of the jury.

The new European Shadowboxing Challenge became popular quickly in Ireland, in Belgium, in the Netherlands, in Russia, in Ukraine, in Belarus, in Greece, in Lithuania, in Finland, in Spain, in Hungary, in Slovakia, in Austria, in Denmark, in Sweden, in Cyprus, in Malta, in North Macedonia, and in many other European countries in the recent weeks.

The European Shadowboxing Challenge was the response of the management of the European Boxing Confederation for the Covid-19 Coronavirus pandemic. The participants of the European Shadowboxing Challenge could upload their short individual videos to their social media pages in the Facebook and in the Instagram with the requested hashtags until May 31.

The jury watched and evaluated all of the videos after the deadline of the European Shadowboxing Challenge. The Chairman of the EUBC Coaches Commission and the President of the Spanish Boxing Federation Mr. Felipe Martinez has joined to the jury. The Chairman of the EUBC Passion for Boxing Commission and the President of the Dutch Boxing Federation Mr. Boris Van der Vorst, furthermore two-time Best European Boxing Journalist Mr. Tibor Kincses of Hungary were the members of the jury.

The decisions of the jury were based on the attacking and defensive technique of the boxers, the speed, the number of the punches, intense, the number of combinations, the landscape and full impression of the video. The jury had to watch hundreds of videos in the recent days to decide the winners in five different categories: kids, junior/youth, women’s elite, men’s elite and veterans.

Gold, silver and bronze medals will be presented to the best four boxers in each of the five category. The medals are in production in the Netherlands and will be sent to the National Federations in the upcoming period.

EUBC President Mr. Franco Falcinelli, EUBC Vice-President Mr. Umar Kremlev of Russia, and further EUBC officials as Mr. Boris Van der Vorst of the Netherlands, Mr. Felipe Martinez of Spain and Mr. Giorgio Brugnoli of England also arranged their shadowboxing videos in the recent weeks to inspire the whole European Boxing Family.

The European Shadowboxing Challenge inspired other continents as well and the Indians launched already two projects in national and international levels. Pakistan Boxing Federation also decided to start its shadowboxing challenge which will be running from June 15 until the 21st
